hippo.jpg - James Lewicki (1917 - 1979) was a prolific illustrator for Life during the 50's and 60's. Books included "The Life Treasury of American Folkore" (1960) and "The World We Live In" (1952 - 1956). WWLI was my favorite book growing up, and, boy, was I delighted and "floored" to discover (on our first date) that Mr. Lewicki was my girl friends (and future wife's) father.
